TAKE A CLOSER LOOK
MedCall is a telephone hotline
staffed 24/7 by registered nurses. It is also a 300+ topic
audio library and an online resource that provides health
information. MedCall empowers participants to make better
health care choices by providing access to self care, health
promotion and consumer education resources.
When patients
are actively involved in managing their health, the benefits
are significant – expedited access to appropriate care,
reduction of inappropriate care, increased patient satisfaction
and lower costs.
Health
Information Hotline. This
toll-free 24-hour health information phone line provides enrollees
confidential access to answers pertaining to their health care
questions. MedCall nurse counselors staff the hotline and can
help enrollees learn about specific ailments or diseases, treatment
options, prescription drugs (and any possible side effects)
and nutrition. MedCall nurses may also provide call-back services
to check on a participant’s well-being and/or recommend
further action if necessary.
Health
Care Audio Library. MedCall
also offers an audio library of recorded information. The library
includes more than 300
taped messages concerning illnesses, treatment plans, prescription
drugs, medical tests and procedures. The three- to five-minute
messages are continually updated, with new topics added often.
The audio library is easy to access and features a direct
transfer to the Health Information Hotline and a registered
nurse
if desired.
